"Science in Society - a challenge in Japan, " the 3rd Symposium of JST/RISTEX "Interactions between Science, Technology, and Society" Program was held on August 24. A lecture by Professor Tetsu Sato and comments thereon by Dr. Michael P. Cosby, and the panel discussion will be broadcast on USREAM.

The 4th Field Workshop will be held in Amami on June 19 and 20, 2010.

[Objective]
The workshop will focus on local efforts for environmental and landscape conservation in Amami, examine activities by local residents and knowledge used by them, and explore how a scientist community as an outside actor can contribute to them. Discussions during the workshop will center on topics local residents are interested in.

Symposium Marking the Foundation of Local Science Network for Environment and Sustainability

The symposium on "the pursuit of science for environmental conservation and sustainable development of local communities" will be held at Osaka Gakuin University on February 18 and 19. The symposium will include a poster presentation session with presenters from public entries. A website for the symposium will be opened shortly.
